The VSAG team wishes our colleague Robert Eggers, founder and president of DC Central Kitchen, the best of luck as he takes his amazingly successful DCCK concept to Los Angeles.
Eggers began DCCK in 1989 with a clear mission: To use food as a tool to strengthen bodies, empower minds and build communities. He has cultivated this mission into one of the most recognized and well respected non-profits in the country by serving up 4,500 meals daily to DC area shelters, transitional homes and rehabilitation clinics.
We were pleased to be present at the recent DCCK’s annual Capital Food Fight fundraiser as Eggers commented on his success. “By any measure, I’ve had a tremendous run…I’ve had the honor of watching thousands of men and women go from a place few can imagine and graduate from the DC Central Kitchen.”
And with that, he announced his plans to move the DCCK concept to Los Angeles to launch the L.A. Kitchen in 2013, continuing his mission of service while leaving the thriving DCCK in the very capable hands of current CEO Mike Curtin.
VSAG’s admiration and partnership with DCCK runs deep. Our restaurant consulting team not only volunteers but we support the program and all they do; from using their eggs at our client LivingSocial’s recent pop-up restaurant event to donating our corporate holiday gift to DCCK last year. Although we will miss having Robert here in DC, we wish him, Mike Curtin and the DCCK and L.A. Kitchen family great success!
