Celebrate a Summer Harvest: August is National Peach Month

Fresh peaches are perhaps one of summer’s more perfect bounties. Yup, we’re talking the mouthwatering goodness that comes from biting into a fresh peach and the joy that ensues when the sweet juice runs right down your face!

As August is National Peach Month, it’s the perfect time to celebrate this deliciously versatile summertime classic.

Whether featured on summer menus as:

  • a seasonal standout freshly sliced over a green salad or as a tasty side all on its own
  • a savory dessert: perhaps served poached in a light, syrupy glaze or a featured gelato flavor
  • paired with other fresh fruit, such as in the sweet, gooey goodness of a warm peach-blueberry crisp
  • a light, flavorful cocktail such as a Bellini, where fresh peach purée meets Italian sparkling wine

… peaches are a perfect addition to offer refreshing flavor to summertime menus.

Available in different varieties, namely yellow or white and clingstone (flesh sticks to the stone) or freestone (stone is easily separated from flesh), peaches also offer great, healthful benefits to guests. Peaches are a good source of vitamins A+C, contain three grams of fiber, and a large peach has fewer than 70 calories.

So, go ahead – celebrate the yummy, mouthwatering peach and all it’s glory (and benefits) this month! For more information and further inspiration, visit National Peach Council.org or GA Peaches.org.
