Third Annual Scholarship for Sustainable Hospitality Awarded

VSAG is proud to have recently awarded its third annual Scholarship for Sustainable Hospitality to Joshua Gammon of The George Washington University’s School of Business .

A $5,000 scholarship was set up to be awarded annually by VSAG and Farmers Restaurant Group, the restaurant management company behind the award-winning Founding Farmers restaurant, to a GW business student studying hospitality who also demonstrates a commitment to sustainability and eco-friendly industry practices. VSAG/FRG created the scholarship in 2010 to recognize students in the emerging field of sustainable hospitality and to actively engage with the university community.

“I am thrilled that we have presented Joshua with this year’s scholarship award, and we are honored to assist him in achieving success in the field of sustainable hospitality,” said Dan Simons, (GWSB ’92), VSAG co-founder and owner of Founding Farmers and Farmers Fishers Bakers restaurants. “The scholarship represents the strong values of VSAG and The Farm as responsible businesses, as well as our strong ongoing partnership with GW.”

Currently in his senior year, Joshua was selected for the scholarship based on his academic excellence, commitment to sustainability, and ambition to build a career in hospitality. A native of Massachusetts, he is earning a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, with a concentration on hotel and hospitality management. Gammon hopes to pursue a career with Marriott Hotels after graduation.

The VSAG/FRG teams congratulate Joshua on winning the Scholarship for Sustainable Hospitality and wish him continued success.
