Jon Arroyo is more than just a great bartender – he elevates bar programs with his unique mastery of the art and craft of mixing cocktails. By studying the classics and experimenting with lesser known distilled spirits and mixers, Jon offers VSAG clients innovative bar programs that enliven their guests and also provides hands-on, invaluable training for bar staff to ensure proper mixology service.
Jon began his career as an actor and like many actors he found work in restaurants and bars. The worlds of entertainment and hospitality aligned when he joined the Houston’s restaurant brand. Behind the bar, he developed a true culinary appreciation for fine spirits, fresh ingredients, and handcrafted juices.
After seven years, Jon was recruited to open a new BBQ concept in Philadelphia, The Smoked Joint, modeled after Blue Smoke in New York. Sponsored by the Jim Beam brands, Jon helped develop the whiskey bar concept there, which quickly became the hottest new destination bar in town. After his success in the restaurant industry, Jon returned to acting, until his passion for mixology was shaken & stirred in 2008 when he was approached to develop and lead the bar program for the new Founding Farmers concept, which went on to win the Restaurant Association of Metropolitan Washington’s RAMMY Award for Best Beverage/Mixology Program in 2011.
Jon continues to innovate and explore the world of high quality mixology as the Bar & Beverage Director for Farmers Restaurant Group/The Farm, as well as overseeing all cocktail, beer, wine, Farmacy (house made sodas and such), and Barista programs at Founding Farmers restaurants and Farmers Fishers Bakers. Jon also serves as the Director of Education for the US Bartenders Guild DC Chapter.
