A New Concept to Embrace Culinary Culture and Showcase Hip, Fun Dining
Mama Rouge is an experience unto itself, where generational culinary traditions meet modern deliciousness. Where old world style meets chic, modern glamour. Where guests are transported to an exotic, yet elegant feast for the senses.
This Southeast Asian Bistro, located at the beautiful Washington Harbour on Washington, D.C.’s Georgetown Waterfront, accomplishes all that and more.
Approached by longtime, esteemed industry clients Chef/Owner Aulie Bunyarataphan and her husband and partner, Mel Oursinsiri, our restaurant consulting team was tasked with developing and subsequently bringing Aulie & Mel’s vision of showcasing familial tradition, with a fresh and more contemporary perspective, to life. The answer: a Southeast Asian bistro, with classic French accents.
It was a great opportunity to be a part of their journey and translate their concept to today’s guest. We began by creating the Mama Rouge brand identity complete with cohesive elements to convey and weave their vision through all aspects of the concept: from food & menu development (including bar & beverage programs) and interior design to culinary concepts and business management to marketing + PR strategies and recruiting services + training development.
Our team of VSAG’ers, including our corporate chefs and operational specialists, collaborated with the renowned architects at Collective Architecture to translate a consistent blend of all culinary, design, and promotional elements to best represent the Mama Rouge brand. The result is a unique dining experience with artfully prepared dishes and select beverages chosen to highlight the bright, exotic flavors, and culinary influences of the concept’s two distinct, yet perfectly married cultures.
Following Mama Rouge’s opening in October 2014, we have continued on as the restaurant’s management team, overseeing day-to-day operations and implementation of ongoing operational systems and marketing + PR planning/strategies we put in place in order to help Mama Rouge thrive.
